Welcome Back and a Huge Thank YOU!

Welcome back from spring break.  It is sort of time for the down hill slide to the end of the year.  Just so you know we are not taking our foot of the gas pedal.  Our goal is not to coast to the end of the year but we will motor right on to the end.  I know it takes effort to make all of this happen especially at this time of the year.

Busy schedules. Early mornings. Late nights.  Real-life challenges.

But your consistency—especially when it comes to attendance— has a lasting impact on your child’s success.

📊 Because of You… Our Lincoln Lions...

were in class more, learned more, and stayed connected. They grew as readers, problem-solvers, and confident learners.

And most importantly—they knew they had a team behind them both at school and home.

💛 Thank You for Being Our Partners

For showing up.  For staying engaged.  For making school a priority.

We couldn’t do this without you—and we don’t want to.

🎯 Looking Ahead

We’re excited to keep this partnership strong as we finish the year and plan ahead for next year—
because when families and schools work together, students thrive.

🧠 Show What You Know!Mark Your Calendars for State Testing

Spring is in the air, and along with blooming flowers and warmer weather comes an exciting opportunity for our students to shine! State testing is almost here, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things our Lions have learned this year.

Please help us make every testing day a success by marking these important dates on your family calendar:

📅 April 28 – Science (Grade 5 only)
📅 May 5 & 6 – English Language Arts (Grades 2–5)
📅 May 12 & 13 – Math (Grades 2–5)

🎉 A Special Surprise: Bike Giveaway Drawing! 🚲

To celebrate great attendance and effort, we’re holding a Bike Giveaway Drawing! Here’s how it works:

✅ For each day your child is present AND on time to take their test, they earn one entry into the drawing.
✅ The more testing days they attend, the more chances they have to win a new bike!

Our big goal? Reduce – or even eliminate – the need for make-up testing. When students are here on time for each test, it helps everyone stay on track and finish strong.

💪 How You Can Help at Home

You are your child’s #1 cheerleader! Here are simple ways to help them do their best:

Get a good night’s sleep. A well-rested brain is a ready-to-learn brain.

Eat a healthy breakfast. Even a quick bite of toast, yogurt, or fruit makes a big difference.

Arrive on time. Give yourself a few extra minutes in the morning so there’s no rush.

Encourage effort, not perfection. Remind your child: “Just try your best. You’ve got this!”

Stay positive. A hug, a high-five, or a sticky note in their lunchbox can work wonders.

⏰ Don’t Miss These Dates! April 28th, May 5/6 and 12/13.

Missing a test day means make-up testing, which can be stressful and pull students away from regular classroom fun. Let’s work together to have all our students present, prepared, and proud on testing days.

If you know your child will be absent due to illness or an emergency, please call the school office as soon as possible so we can plan accordingly.

Thank you for partnering with us to make this testing season low-stress and high-success for every child. We’re so proud of our students – and we know they’re ready to shine!

🏊‍♂️ 2nd Grade Swim Lessons – Coming in May!

Thanks to a generous grant from the Grays Harbor Community Foundation, our 2nd graders will be heading to the pool for eight days of free swim lessons in May!

We’re thrilled to offer this fun, life-saving skill to our students – but we need your help to make a splash.

👋 We’re Looking for Parent Volunteers!

To run swim lessons safely and smoothly, we really need several parent volunteers to join us each day.

If you’re interested, please stop by the school office to:

Fill out a volunteer application

Provide a photocopy of your driver’s license

⏰ Important deadline: All paperwork must be completed at least 3 days before swimming starts to be cleared to help.

No experience needed – just a willingness to help kids have fun and stay safe!  This does include assistance with dressing and changing in the locker rooms.

Thank you for supporting our 2nd graders in this wonderful opportunity. Let’s make a splash together! 🌊

Questions? Call the office – we’d love to get you involved.
