Building Confident Readers, One Word at a Time!

Our school is buzzing with a focus on a key reading skill: fluency. Reading  fluency is simply the ability to read smoothly, with expression and at a good pace—just like talking! When a child reads fluently, they can focus on understanding the story, making reading much more enjoyable.

You are our essential partners in this effort! Here are a few simple and effective ways you can support reading fluency at home:

Be a Reading Model: Take turns reading aloud. You read a page, then have your child read the next. Hearing your fluent reading shows them what smooth, expressive reading sounds like.

Reread Favorite Stories: It’s more than okay to read the same book multiple times! Repeated reading of familiar books is one of the best ways to build speed, accuracy, and confidence.

Talk Like the Character: Make it fun! Encourage your child to use "silly voices" for different characters. If a character is excited, their voice should be excited too! This builds expression and comprehension.

Your time and encouragement make a world of difference. Thank you for partnering with us to nurture your child’s love of reading.

Fall Festival

We had great finish to the month of October with our students celebrating all things fall with a Spirit Week, Pumpkin Patch at Lincoln, and ended the week with a day of costumes.  Students enjoyed fall themed activities including arts and crafts with their pumpkins, along with reading and math activities with their pumpkins.  Thank you to Ms. Marll, Ms. Sund, our PTO parents and Swansons for all their generosity in sharing this week of fall festivities.

Veteran's Day

Lincoln celebrated Veteran's Day on November 10th with an assembly.  At the assembly students were able to sing and listen to some of our local Veteran's about the importance of serving and being grateful for those that have and continue to serve in the Armed Forces.  We were honored to have husbands and parents for our students and staff as VIP Veteran's to honor.  Danny Hall our local Scout Master and his Scouts from Lincoln helped with a very special flag retirement ceremony.  Our Scouts did an amazing job, everyone that came to Lincoln for the assembly got to take a small flag home for themselves.

Congratulations to Mrs. Ravenel's 3rd Grade

Mrs. Ravenel's 3rd grade class had the highest percentage of Perfect attenders for the month of October.  For the second time this year Mrs. Ravenel's students are showing off in getting school every day.  This month 9 students in her class had perfect attendance.  Remember it is super important to be in school every day.
